camp sesssions and what to expect
Camp sessions are 45-60 minutes. Sometimes we have a specific topic that could run 1-3 sessions. Other times we keep it open--camp counselors are prepared to throw out conversation starters or maybe suggest a game or activity. We keep it interesting by combining talk, slide presentations, video clips, music, show and tell, and other devices that reinforce our topic or discussion.
With every session, we try to weave in opportunities for the campers to sharpen skills including language (public speaking or reading out loud), math and science, life skills (how to), and arts (drawing, paper arts, music). We also take every opportunity to encourage interaction--giving them a chance to practice speaking in front of a small group and good manners in conversation: taking turns with talking, listening, and always staying mindful of how others are feeling.
Themes for camp sessions: Critical thinking in our digital world, Creativity within and everywhere around us, Emotions describe our feelings and make us human, Bugs: True bugs and insects, Cooking, Earth Week Celebration (Reduce--reuse--recycle), Space--it's big--very big, Free-form (unintentional learning), Hidden talents, Everyone is an artist, Travel (virtual trips, travel trivia, cultural exchange), Math madness (games, challenges, whiteboard), Kindness for a better world.
Engaging every camper is our primary objective. And we strive to create a kids community that is safe, comfortable, interactive, intercultural, and inclusive.

camp counselors and guest speakers
Camp counselors are experienced in their work with children and come from a variety of backgrounds: nannies, teachers, athletic coaches. The camp counselors facilitate all sessions and are generalists. Most of our camp counselors are college graduates and many hold advanced degrees. Often they possess specialized knowledge and expertise but they can assist with the development of our camp sessions.
Guest speakers are typically volunteer experts in a specific field and typically: psychologists, scientists (astrophysics, chemistry, biology, earth sciences), math, language and performance arts, arts, and crafts.
We are always looking for Camp counselors and expanding our Guest speaker network. Please click here to contact us for more information.
